Though Hole would eventually become a more melodic outfit, 1991 debut album Pretty on the Insidemade a glorious and messily chaotic first impression. A sense of danger looms over teeth-bearing, noise-spiraling songs like “Teenage Slut” and “Pretty on the Inside,” which harnessed co-founding members Eric Erlandson and Courtney Love’s guitar power into visceral disseminations of rage and defiance. Love quickly established herself as one of the most memorably intense vocalists of a generation. Newly remastered, this pressing of Pretty on the Inside arrives on 180-gram vinyl and comes with restored artwork.
