Four ordinary Okies started a band in the spring of 2019, and almost at once people looked up. Their name comes from the huge piles of toxic waste dotting their home state — monuments, as the band sees it, to capitalism's cruel hubris — and their noise rock carried the existential dread of the 21st century with it. The momentum led to God's Country, their landmark debut from 2022, and then the sprawling Cool World in 2024.
Long before any of that, though, Chat Pile was already writing some of the heaviest, most hellish music in its catalog. Those first months produced a pair of EPs — This Dungeon Earth and Remove Your Skin Please, out in the summer and winter of 2019 — and they set the tone for everything that followed.
Reptilian Records put them out in 2020. The Flenser now gathers both EPs onto a single disc, eight tracks of noxious, nihilistic noise rock that trace how an Oklahoma City oddity turned into an underground heavyweight.
