The Black CROWES on tour 2026

Lions came out in 2001 as the Crowes' sixth studio album. Thirteen tunes, all from Chris and Rich Robinson, and the fans pushed it into the Top 20.

The singles did the heavy lifting. "Lickin'" went Top Ten, while "Soul Singing" and "Cosmic Friend" quickly became Crowes classics in their own right.

Don Was produced, and the record was cut in New York City with Chris Robinson on lead vocals, Rich Robinson on lead guitar, bass and piano, Don Was on bass, Audley Reed on guitar and Steve Gorman on drums.

Riffs pulled from Led Zeppelin sit next to the R&B and funk swagger of the late '60s, and "Lions" roars through all thirteen tracks.

Friday Music knows this catalogue well, so 25 years on, the album gets its first outing on cobalt blue vinyl.

Joe Reagoso mastered from the Melody Catalog tapes at Friday Music Studios, and the 2 LP set tucks into a gatefold cover.
