MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA I'm Like a VIRGIN LOSING a Child 2LP 20th Anniversary Gold Vinyl

LABEL: Favorite Gentlemen
RELEASE RELEASE DATE: 10/16/2026
VARIANT: 20th Anniversary Edition, Gold Vinyl 2LP

I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child still sounds like the work of a band who already knew who they were. Two decades on, the striking part isn't how far Manchester Orchestra have travelled since their debut full-length, it's how much of their character was in place from the start. Those sessions ran without a label, without outside expectations and without surplus material. Spontaneity beat polish, and the traits formed in that room stuck.

An organ swells through opener Wolves at Night, a nod to a Southern gospel upbringing, until a dirty, downtuned guitar riff out of '90s fuzz pushes back. Competing impulses like that ripple through the whole record. That same fearlessness let Virgin outgrow the scene that first took it in: a re-release through the band's Favorite Gentlemen imprint with Canvasback/Sony opened the door to tours with Kings of Leon, festival sets at Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Reading and Leeds, and a national TV debut on the Late Show with David Letterman.

Manchester Orchestra are marking the album's 20th anniversary with a deluxe 2LP reissue on Gold Vinyl, all-new packaging included, arriving alongside a series of special performances honoring that first entry in their catalog.
