GOLDMINE SUMMER 2024 Issue FEATURING MELANIE Featuring Melanie Safka

What's in the magazine: Melanie Safka began planning a reissue run of her back catalog from 1971 on before her sudden death earlier this year. Music from that catalog is coming out through Cleopatra Records (U.S.) and Easy Action (U.K.), and some of it has never been heard before. Goldmine bundles a 7-inch with this issue. Author Dave Thompson walks readers through the full release schedule, which includes a '70s bootleg concert that never got pressed on vinyl or put out officially.

"Talking with Melanie one time," Thompson says, "she mentioned that she'd never had a 'proper' bootleg."
