VARIANT: Black Vinyl 3LP
A 30-track set that gathers every BBC recording The Selecter made, from radio sessions and concert tapes to assorted TV appearances, and this is the first time they've been pulled together in one place. The band stood among the defining acts of the late 70s ska revival, and one of the few racially and sexually integrated groups on that scene. Pauline Black's lyrics took on sexism, racism and social issues head-on.
Their first release was the AA side of The Specials' single 'Gangsters' in the summer of 1979, back when the lineup was just Neol Davies and John Bradbury, before the full band came together by the end of that year.
The limited edition vinyl comes as a 3LP on standard weight black vinyl, housed in a rigid slipcase with printed inners, a 4-page insert and new 6000 word liner notes by Simon Price (Melody Maker, Curepedia), who also conducted fresh interviews with the band.
