Since their debut album “As The Flower Withers” came out on Peaceville Records back in 1992, My Dying Bride has stood among the foremost and most consistent forces in doom metal. Celtic Frost and Candlemass shaped the band's heavy atmospherics, and that sound has built a huge worldwide following. They remain one of the most instantly distinguishable metal bands out there.

Three albums and as many EP's landed before the massive opus ‘Like Gods Of The Sun’ arrived in 1996, at a point when the band's popularity was near its peak after touring with fellow British metal heroes Iron Maiden behind the previous breakthrough release, the equally revered ‘The Angel & The Dark River’. ‘Like Gods Of The Sun’ became a huge hit among metal press and fans on release, cementing My Dying Bride's legacy as one of the UK's most accomplished extreme metal acts, their perfected gothic doom streamlined into an impactful run of tracks with stunning effect.

Recording took place at the infamous Academy Studios (Paradise Lost, Anathema) in Yorkshire, UK, with long-time producer Mags.

For this special 30th anniversary edition of ‘Like Gods Of The Sun’, a new half-speed audio master has been cut, and the record is presented on limited “Lagoon” vinyl.
