Black and White Quad Colored Vinyl. Sweet Tooth lands three years after Mom Jeans' second LP Puppy Love, and it was cut in New Jersey at The Barber Shop Studios with producer Brett Romnes (The Front Bottoms, Oso Oso). Butler calls it the band's first proper, top-to-bottom studio experience, which meant no cutting corners and room to chase a level of polish they hadn't reached before. Tyler Povanda (Save Face) and Kory Gregory (Prince Daddy & the Hyena) chipped in vocals.
The writing itself marked a shift for Butler. "I fell in love with bands like Modern Baseball and Front Bottoms and Joyce Manor, so I wanted to write songs like that," he says. Sweet Tooth plays like dessert before dinner, every time, a rejection of the idea that you have to suffer before the good stuff. You've got one life. Indulge your Sweet Tooth.
