Loathe have been making waves in the British underground since forming in 2014. Two EPs and a debut full-length put them on the map, and the nods came: Best New Band at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods, Best UK Breakthrough Band at the Heavy Music Awards. Their live show is a visceral, multi-media affair, the kind that marks out a band with ambitions well past their peers. Second album I Let It In and It Took Everything is where those ambitions start landing.
Influences land in the LOATHE melting pot — some you'd expect, others that seem inconceivable coming from a band this acerbic. Radiohead and The 1975 are cornerstones of how LOATHE approach music, partly in sound, mainly in the attitude of doing whatever they like and building a fan base that follows them down deep experimental rabbit holes. Some of the pull sits outside music entirely: the soundtrack to 2001's survival horror game Silent Hill 2, the ominous aura of 2019's most divisive film Joker, or the whole works of David Lynch.
