Royal Highness is the debut that laid the groundwork for rip-hop, and it came out of Southern California with no tidy genre to sit in. Punk, hip-hop, acoustic and psychedelic strands all run through it, which is how founders Dustin “D-Loc” Miller and Steven “Saint Dog” Thronson built a following spanning more than three decades. This 2LP reissue keeps a defining record in print for fans who were there and for anyone who came later.
