The fifth solo LP from My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James looks at the psychic fallout of the digital age. Digging through a vast archive of music he'd composed for two major film-scoring projects in the early 2010s, James got a sudden rush of inspiration and turned those fragments into an immersive work of soulful psychedelia. It's his first new solo album in eight years, and Wowed Out lands as a visionary offering from one of the most adventurous artists in 21st century rock music.
