Black Friday brings two early Destroy Boys records back to the shelves, and this is the second of them: Make Room, pressed on black vinyl. Hopeless Records and Epitaph Records are reissuing it alongside Sorry Mom, and each title also gets a limited 500 run on colored vinyl that indie retailers will carry. 2017 marks Sorry Mom, 2018 covers Make Room.
Violet Mayugba and Alexia Roditis started the band in 2015 at 15, and every record since has tracked a shift in who they were. "On the second record (Make Room), we went to college and were saying goodbye to our childhood," Mayugba says. Her guitarist's read on the run so far: the first three albums were soundtracks to their funerals, marking the end of an age or a state of mind. At 24, both members sound steadier than they ever have.
Funeral Soundtrack #4 arrived in 2024 on Hopeless Records, which makes this a good moment to hear where the story began.
