October 16, 2026 — that’s when Dopamine Chamber lands via XL Recordings, the fifth studio album from Fontaines D.C. James Ford produced it. It picks up from 2024’s Romance, the record that made the Dublin five-piece one of the biggest bands in the world.
For context, Romance entered the UK chart at No. 2 in, later went platinum, and became the band’s first entry on the Billboard 200. Two GRAMMY nominations followed — Best Rock Album, and Best Alternative Music Performance for “Starburster”. International Group of the Year at the 2025 BRIT Awards was their second BRIT win. Elsewhere came the Album Award at the 2024 Rolling Stone UK Awards, Ireland’s Choice Music Prize, and a Mercury Prize shortlist.
Lead single “Marianne” landed with a Dave Meyers clip; Meyers also directed Kendrick’s “HUMBLE” and Travis Scott’s “SICKO MODE”. As for the record, think potent balladry and anthemic melodies glinting through murk, like a constellation behind undulating sighs of smog. Pleasure, peril, and what our pursuit of the first says about us — that’s the territory. The early guitar sound gets left behind for something colder and more synthetic.
Chatten’s take on the title: “The album itself is a dopamine chamber. You step inside and we test these different mind- or mood-altering pieces of music on you.”
