More than ten years on from their last record, Alabama Shakes return with I Must Be Dreaming. Where 2015’s Sound & Color roamed freely, this one leans hard into a physical, charged strain of psychedelic soul. Shawn Everett produced with the band, as he has before, and the tracks were laid down at Sound Emporium Studios and Blackbird Studio in Nashville. The intensity hasn't gone anywhere. What's different is the space around it, since several songs drift into lusher, more otherworldly territory with a firm grip on atmosphere.
