Funkadelic dropped Maggot Brain in 1971, and listeners didn't quite know what to make of it at first. Time has been kind. The record now sits among the most influential albums ever cut, and its centerpiece is Eddie Hazel's guitar on the title track, a performance that still sounds like it came from somewhere else. "Can You Get To That" remains a favorite too, and between them the album stretched what funk, rock and psychedelic music could do.
This 2026 reissue was mastered straight from analog tape. Nothing in the chain went digital, which keeps the rawness, depth and room feel of the original sessions intact. Collectors have chased a pressing like this for years.
